OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The International Harley Drag-Racing Association (IHDRA) was formed out of a passion for the sport of motorcycle drag-racing. Professionalism, Integrity, and Structure are the core principles that encompass the IHDRA. These principles are THE foundation of The International Harley Drag-Racing Association and shall never be deviated from.
ABOUT
The International Harley Drag-Racing Association (IHDRA) is an organization that was formed primarily by Andy Simon Sr., and Andy Simon, Jr. to bring back professionalism, integrity, and structure to the sport of Harley-Davidson Drag-Racing. The father and son team has been involved in Harley-Davidson Drag-Racing alone for over 30 years, not to mention everything from Saturday night short track racing, motocross, USAC midgets, Karting, NHRA, NASCAR Trucks, and the NASCAR Cup Series.
Andy Simon Sr. has long been known in the sport and industry for his innovative designs, fair minded thinking, record breaking performances, and engine building. To this very day, Andy Sr. builds engines, transmissions, and crankshafts for a very large group of people in the sport of Harley Drag-Racing. His legacy speaks for itself.
Andy Simon Jr. has been a key fixture in the corporate side of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle industry with motorcycle icons Drag-Specialties and Vance & Hines. His involvement in those companies has produced some of the companies that are currently supplying parts to the industry worldwide. Andy Jr. has also implemented key strategic policies within sales, marketing, product, and business development that is currently in use today with those companies and other companies that he has helped develop in the industry today.
There has also been a number of people who have helped to contribute to the organization and come up with a starting point. Their input, efforts, and opinions have become the starting foundation for the IHDRA. These individuals are leaders in our sport and industry. Their involvement has been a key component to the amazing show of support the IHDRA has received. Some of these people will be part of the IHDRA Advisory Board.
THE IHDRA
The IHDRA is a sanctioning body in which events and organizations will be able to run as IHDRA sanctioned events, just as NHRA does with their organization. The NHRA sanctions events, they also hold their own events and series with regional and national series such as the Camping World Drag-Racing Series. The IHDRA operates in a similar fashion, they sanction races and organizations that will run IHDRA classes/rules. The IHDRA will also have their own series called The Outlaw Bagger World Series
The Outlaw Bagger World Series events will be held in conjunction with other races and organizations to help support the sport, and not further splinter the sport by having other events and one off rules that are run only in that area. This will also help support and strengthen the organizations that currently out there running so racers can run under the same rules and classes wherever they are. It is important to understand that the IHDRA has organized rules and classes for (6) classes as of now. Talks are already under way to grow the sport and develop other classes with rules for 2023.
The IHDRA rules and classes that most of all the organizations will be running under in 2022 will help unify our sport and bring a common set of rules together to strengthen our sport so the same rules will be run wherever you race. This will also eliminate the favoritism to certain individuals and shops. There have also been cases where rules have been designed and kept to benefit 1 or 2 people who have a strong influence to keep the rules to benefit them year after year. The IHDRA rules and classes are designed to eliminate all of that. The IHDRA is designed to help and benefit the “Majority” of the racers out there to keep things fair and consistent.
The IHDRA has come up with a set of rules for (6) classes “currently”. These classes; Xtreme Outlaw, Pro-Outlaw, Pro-Comp, Super-Stock, Top Eliminator, and Hot Rod Bagger were designed to have a set of rules that would be universal across the world to crown a true World Champion in each of the respective classes. Currently there are a number of promoters, tracks, and racing organizations that will be running some, or all of these IHDRA classes at their respective events in 2022. The All Harley Drag-Racing Association (AHDRA) and The All Harley World Shootout Series (AHWS) will be running these classes in 2022 at ALL of their events. As previously stated, there are also a number of other promotors, tracks, and independent regional/local racing organizations that will also be running either all, or some of the classes established by the IHDRA.
There will also be a number of Metric racing organizations and series that will be running either some, or all of these IHDRA classes as well. The amount of support we have received from racers, manufactures, and organizations have been beyond what we initially thought and plans for growth are already being discussed.
If an organization, track, or promoter is interested in running the IHDRA rules and classes, they will be Officially Sanctioned by the IHDRA with all of the support and help from the IHDRA to help grow the sport with them. Interested parties should contact the IHDRA.
THE IHDRA ADVISORY BOARD
The IHDRA Advisory Board is made up of a number of people from different areas of our sport and industry. The goal of the Advisory Board is to ensure that the classes, rules, and goals are non-biased, and are in the best interest of the racers and our sport. The Advisory Board will meet periodically via online meetings to discuss any issues and make improvements for the future.
The board will consist of racers, promoters, track owners, manufactures, shop owners, media personnel, and select industry experts to ensure a well-rounded view of what is needed to make improvements.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the IHDRA Advisory Board, please contact the IHDRA for more information. Your involvement would play a key role in the development and overall health of our sport.
THE OUTLAW BAGGER WORLD SERIES
What is the Outlaw Bagger World Series (OBWS)? The OBWS is a “stand alone touring series” that will be having their events in conjunction with other events(example… The AHDRA might have 8 total events on their schedule. We will have 4 races in conjunction “with” their events. The AHWS might also have 8 events on their schedule, we will have 2 races at their events. There are also some other organizations that we are currently working with to bring The Outlaw Bagger World Series to some of their events as well. This is what we mean by a “Touring Series”). By touring around the different organizations, we will be helping to support and strengthen those organizations and our sport. We will essentially be “bringing the show to them with the touring Outlaws”. The Outlaw Bagger World Series will be the featured races at these events! The OBWS is not just for baggers, see the complete rules and class structure for the full breakdown. Any questions should be directed to the IHDRA for clarification.
The schedule will consist of 6 races. The OBWS is Officially Sanctioned by the IHDRA. All (6) IHDRA classes will be run at Outlaw Bagger World Series Events. The OBWS is separate from any other organization, however certain organizations such as the AHDRA and the AHWS have decided to run the IHDRA rules and classes at ALL of their respective events. Again, the Outlaw Bagger World Series is a separate race series also run under the IHDRA rules.
At the end of the year, each class in the OBWS will have an IHDRA World Champion crowned with a huge display of acknowledgment worthy of a World Champion. Media coverage will be worldwide and the champions name will be permanently attached to a trophy similar to the winners of the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500. Certain perks will be made available to these deserving champions.
The Official World Championship of the IHDRA. Home of The Quickest and Fastest Harley Baggers in the World! Non-baggers also compete in this series for World Champion titles.
